My values - #4 Autonomy.

Over the last few weeks, I have shared with you my values of authenticity, kindness, and growth. This week I am focusing on my next core value: Autonomy.

In its simplest sense, autonomy is about ‘a person's ability to act on his or her own values and interests’. For this to happen, the autonomous person must have a sense of self-worth, self-respect, and crucially, self-knowledge which includes a well-developed understanding of what matters to him or her.

Personal Autonomy is of huge importance to me: it allows me to pursue my own goals and objectives as well as my ambitions of self-development without being restricted or hindered (which ties in well with my Growth value). It brings me feelings of fulfilment and satisfaction.

Work autonomy is also well suited for a solopreneur with a portfolio career like me as that means I am a self-starter with little management required, can intuitively prioritize and hold myself accountable.

Core values act as a GPS system for our life, supporting our decision-making process. Do you know your core values? If not, get in touch, value work is an essential part of my work with coaching clients.
