My values - #5 Integrity.

As I continue sharing with you my core values, this week I focus on Integrity.

Integrity can mean a lot of things to various people but for me it means two things.

The first one is doing the right thing by others, even – especially! – when no one is watching. I don’t consider myself excessively virtuous and I won’t pretend my morals are perfect – we all have our flaws, but I have often been called a ‘goody two shoes’ which can be perceived as a negative. I decide to take it as a compliment.

The second meaning is doing the right thing by me. This is something I have compromised on for many years, especially when I was in the corporate world and goes hand in hand with my need for authenticity. I am not ready to compromise anymore, and I make a point to listen to my gut feeling more: if something does not feel right, I step away or explore further before I make a decision.

What values are helping you make choices in life? Do you need help identifying them?
Do you know if you are aligned with them?

Value work is an essential part of my work with coaching clients, get in touch if you’d like to hear more on this.
