My first career change.

At the beginning of my career, I used to work in research labs. Over the years I worked on lupus, HIV and corneal transplantation in some very prestigious institutions in Paris and London.

This sounds cool (at least that’s what people outside that field say when they find out!) and I should have been grateful for my situation, but I can’t really say that I was enjoying it…

My teams were lovely and supportive, and I loved the science – I think I will always be a scientist at heart – but the work was pretty intense, repetitive and lonely. In the HIV lab, the high security measures meant that I would spend most of my days alone in a dedicated room, not talking to anyone…

But I am a PEOPLE person… I love nothing more than having conversations and chats, sharing ideas, and collaborating with people…

After months of soul searching, I decided to have what was going to be my first career change: I looked at what I liked in my old career, my strengths, my skills and expertise, and embarked on a new career as a life sciences communications consultant.

If like me back then, you are ready for a career change (I actually changed career twice but that’s for another blog) – including going solopreneur, freelancer or side hustler – or would like to explore what it could look like, reach out to find how I can help you working things out and taking your career back in control.
